Resume

Abstract
This paper presents the design of a model of an intelligent Clinical Treatment Pathway (CTP) applied to orthopaedical, conceived as a holistic system for sustainable healthcare. The model integrates patient needs, healthcare professionals’ practices, and organizational objectives to improve care quality, operational efficiency, and resource management. Building upon evidence from existing electronic health systems, telemedicine, and structured care protocols, the proposed conceptual framework addresses persistent challenges such as fragmented workflows, unnecessary consultations, and inefficient resource allocation. The methodology follows a scientific approach, combining literature review, problem analysis, and designing science research principles to conceptualize a pathway mechanism that leverages structured timelines, digital tools, and machine learning for continuous adaptation. A prototype implementation is outlined as proof of concept, demonstrating how patient data, diagnostic acts, and treatment decisions can be orchestrated in a coordinated digital environment. While the case study is rooted in orthopaedical, with scenarios such as elective joint replacement and fracture management, the framework is generalizable to other medical specialties. The goal is to foster sustainable healthcare delivery by balancing patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and efficient resource use.
