Maria Inês Peixoto Braga has a PhD in Information and Communication on Digital Platforms, a Master degree in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies and a undergraduate degree in Modern Languages and Literature - Portuguese and French Studies from the Faculty of Arts of Porto. She holds a Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies (D.E.A.) from the University of Toulouse le-Mirail – France and a postgraduate degree in Information Sciences from the Open University. She was a teacher at Higher School of Industrial and Management Studies - Escola Superior de Estudos Industrial e de Gestão (ESEIG) of Vila do Conde – of Porto Polytechnic Institute, for 25 years, teaching subjects in the area of Languages, Communication and Information Science in several undergraduate programmes at the institution. Parallel to her teaching activity, she performed management functions at ESEIG. She was Head of the Library, Head of International Programs Office at ESEIG and Coordinator of the Documentation and Information Sciences and Technologies degree. She was Coordinator of the Technical-scientific unit of Languages and Law, she was a member of the Technical-Scientific Council, she was a Member of the School Council and Dean Professor at ESEIG. Since 2016, she is Adjunct Professor at Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto - Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto (ISCAP) in the Department of Information Systems, teaching in the undergraduate degree of Science and Technologies of Documentation and Information and in the Master of Business Information. Her scientific research has focused predominantly on the areas of Information Science, Higher Education and Communication, being author of several communications and papers and having participated in multiple national and international congresses and conferences. Her area of expertise is information literacy, with her PhD thesis “INFORMATION LITERACY IN POLYTECHNIC EDUCATION: skills and practices in a Higher Education School”.
