Maria José Angélico Gonçalves holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering, with a focus on reusable components and applications for human–machine interfaces, awarded by the University of Vigo. She also holds an MSc in Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP, 1996) and a BSc in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from Universidade Portucalense (1988). She is a Professor of Information Systems at the Porto Accounting and Business School and a researcher at CEOS.PP (Centre for Organisational and Social Studies of the Polytechnic of Porto). She also collaborates as a researcher at OSEAN (Outermost Regions Sustainable Ecosystem for Entrepreneurship and Innovation). Her research interests focus on Technologies and Information Systems. Throughout her academic career, she has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She has participated in externally funded research projects in several domains, including Knowledge Management (IACOBUS – International Research Instances), Digital Transformation (Universities of the Future, U-Value, and DE Projects), Technologies Applied in Public and Private Organisations (TACLARO Project), E-learning (DIGITOOLS Project), and Cybersecurity (CyberSec.IP and CyberPraise Projects). Her scientific output includes publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, book chapters, and papers in international conference proceedings. She actively contributes to the scientific community by participating in international research networks, including the RIBCI Network, and by organising and participating in scientific events. In her academic activity, she has supervised and examined master’s and doctoral theses, contributing to advanced training and knowledge dissemination at the postgraduate level. She has also held relevant academic governance and leadership roles. From 2021 to 2024, she served as Chair of the Technical and Scientific Council of the Porto Accounting and Business School. She is currently a member of the General Council of the Polytechnic of Porto.
