JACINTO JARDIM (Manuel Jacinto de Ascensão Jardim) is a Principal Researcher with Habilitation in Social Sciences at Universidade Aberta, Portugal, where he has held a permanent research career position since February 2025, following an international competitive recruitment process in Entrepreneurship Education. Previously, he held a research position funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) under the Scientific Employment Stimulus Programme (CEEC Institutional). He holds a PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of Aveiro (2007) and a Specialist Qualification in Management and Administration (2022). He coordinates the Master's Programme in Entrepreneurship and Global Citizenship at Universidade Aberta and is an integrated researcher at the Laboratory of Distance Education and eLearning (LE@D), also collaborating with the Centre for Global Studies (CEG). His research focuses on Entrepreneurship Education, entrepreneurial competencies, entrepreneurial culture, social innovation, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and educational impact evaluation. Working at the intersection of education, psychology, management, and global studies, he develops conceptual frameworks, assessment instruments, and evidence-informed approaches to the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational programmes. His scientific contributions include research on entrepreneurial competencies and culture, the development and psychometric validation of assessment instruments, and systematic reviews of the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education programmes. His work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Business Research, Psychological Reports, Education Sciences, and REGEPE Entrepreneurship and Small Business Journal. In 2026, he edited two Springer volumes under the overarching title Entrepreneurial Education in a Global and Digital World: Fundamentals and Opportunities and Method and Practices. He has extensive experience supervising doctoral and master's research and mentoring postdoctoral researchers, fostering scientific collaboration between Portugal, Brazil, and other Portuguese-speaking countries. His academic leadership and knowledge-transfer activities seek to connect scientific research with educational practice, institutional development, public policy, and societal challenges. In 2026, he was included in the Stanford/Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists — Single-Year Scientific Impact list, ranking 2,240th among 115,687 researchers in the Education subfield (top 1.94%). His current research agenda seeks to advance the conceptual foundations, methodological rigour, and measurable educational and societal impact of Entrepreneurship Education, with particular attention to digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.
