Mónica Santos is an assistant professor at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra and at ISLA - Polytechnic Institute of Management and Technology in Gaia. She has a PhD in Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto in partnership with the University of Aveiro. She completed his Masters in Multimedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto. He is an integrated member of the research centre ID+ Instituto de Investigação em Design, Media e Cultura (UA/ Polo FBAUP). His research interests focus on the role of design in contemporary society, mainly in terms of its contribution to increasing health literacy and the empowerment of people, and in design education in terms of multimedia communication and the development of pedagogical models that promote creativity and innovation.
